The NEM Association: Quality assurance and representation of interests for the food supplement industry

The NEM Association, officially known as the ‘Verband mittelständischer europäischer Hersteller und Distributoren von Nahrungsergänzungsmitteln und Gesundheitsprodukten e.V.’, was founded in 2006 and represents the interests of medium-sized companies in the field of food supplements, dietary foods, and related products. The aim of the association is to create legal certainty for European companies, to promote prevention through healthy nutrition, and to develop a new status for organic food supplements.
A central concern of the NEM Association is quality assurance of food supplements. With this in mind, the association has created the ‘NEM-Control®’ quality seal, which may only be used by authorised members. This seal guarantees that the labelled products have undergone comprehensive testing and meet quality standards that go beyond the legal requirements.
In addition to quality assurance, the NEM Association is also involved in public relations and consumer education. By publishing specialist articles and organising symposia with experts from business, research, and law, the association helps to raise awareness of the importance of food supplements and healthy nutrition.
Membership of the NEM Association offers companies numerous benefits, including legal advice, support with product development, and access to a network of experts and companies from the industry. By pooling the interests of its members, the association strengthens the position of medium-sized companies on the European market and advocates fair competitive conditions.
As a founding member of the NEM Association, Plantafood Medical GmbH shares the philosophy and goals of the association and is actively involved in promoting quality and innovation in the field of food supplements.
